Lakme Swatch and Review

ALL SWATCHES APPLIED WITHOUT PRIMERS

The thing about Lakme is their colour range compliments Indian skintones.  It is also weather resistant and doesnt taste or smell foul even after years (a bit like a Mcdonald’s Softie that never melts!).

It’s basically super strength makeup that fearlessly faces any Indian summer, year after year.

Swatches of the stuff I bought from my recent trip to Bombay.

Lakme Eyeconic Eye Pencil: Purchased Black, Blue and Green. Out of stock Wine and Bronze- Applies like a dream, soft and pigmented. No tugging or pulling, and I have really crepe-y lids. Its has a twist up nib but DO NOT over twist as it doesn’t go back down. The sales girl instructed me thus. I went ahead and bought three colours. Turquoise shimmery blue (its buh-rite), Emerald green (flat) and Black. Wine and Bronze were SOLD OUT, damnit.

After a run and a shower

As you can see it wears extremely well but it does creep up to your crease if you have hooded eyes like I do. The smudge looks like a cut-crease line. So for me probably this is better for my lower lids rather than my top lid.

Lakme Absolute Gloss Addict Lipstick:  Shade purchased Rustic Red.  Its soft and glides beautifully and creamy. I have dark purplish pigmented lips and on me it sits Tomato red. It has a warm undertone and I think, pretty muted. I am more of a statement red lip girl. A ‘MAC Salon Rouge-Chinese Courtesan‘ kind of statement, so this is more of a daytime Red for me.

It lasted a cup of tea and a bowl potato bhaji but definitely not outlast my favourite food item that one has to seriously slurp- a bowl of spicy Noodle soup.

Lakme 9-5 Matte Lipstick:  A matte lipstick that doesn’t feel dry, applies without dragging and comfortable to wear. Shades purchased were Cherry Chic and Peony Goal

IMG_0278

Cherry Chic is a nice brick-brown red, almost terracota I think. Applies nice and flat

IMG_0277

Peony Goal is a nude. In the picture it looks like it has a lilac tinge, not really. Its a pink-mauve nude with flecks of shimmer. Very subtle shimmer. This colour can apply patchy on my lips because I have dark pigmented lips and also emphasises the lines. I am not a nude lipstick person but bought it for its shimmer. But like I said the shimmer is a bit too subtle for me so I dont reach for it that often.

Lakme Aquashine Lip Gloss:  Purchased 3 Wildberry, Wine and Guava.  It has shine, feels like a balm and not sticky (I hate sticky). What I love the most is the applicator. It is a lark to apply. I find doe foot applicators a nightmare apply but not this one. It’s a small, flat tip sponge that dispenses the product as you twist the tube.

WILDBERRY

I am so happy the picture captures the swatch perfectly.

WINE

The Wine is a maroon with shimmer. You cant really see the shimmer flecks but you know its there. It reminds me of a Christmas ornament, which makes it pretty festive I think!

I like the colour but it bleeds and does something else that’s a bit weird.

It  kind of pools around the edges of my lips. I have to tap the edges with my fingers. I do think a lip liner is a must for this one! However it did last through my morning coffee.

GUAVA

I like Guava. Pinky-creamy shine, There is another  shade in the range called Lychee (pronounced Lee-chee not Lie-chi please) but that is more of a brown and on my dark lips just looks like…shine, no colour.

All in all I am very happy with all my purchases. And who knows, after applying all this I might even start to look more like Kareena Kapoor !
